The Abbey Road Institute and Sontronics have announced their official partnership to provide students with greater learning experiences in the field of audio.

This official joining of forces will provide Abbey Road Institute students with masterclasses, online workshops, as well as on-site work placements at Sontronics’ Dorset Headquarters. Additionally, Sontronics will allow the educational institute full access to its range of highly respected microphones, with the added opportunity to test out and give feedback on new prototypes.

Over the years, both brands have enjoyed a close relationship, with Sontronics developing numerous microphone prototypes at the (next door) Abbey Road Studios itself. The respected microphone brand has said that it viewed this partnership as the perfect opportunity to share its technical expertise and knowledge with the next generation of producers, engineers and artists.

“We are incredibly proud of our partnership with Abbey Road Institute, where we’re thrilled to say our mics are used on a daily basis,” said Sontronics founder Trevor Coley in a statement.

“We have a passion for creating innovative products and building classics of the future, but we are also dedicated to sharing knowledge and helping others to develop their skills. Our partnership with Abbey Road Institute reflects these two aspects of Sontronics perfectly.”

Already, the two companies have put their newfound partnership to use, working together to develop online and live-streamed workshops for students in lockdown due to COVID-19 – which will be shared not only with students based in London, but also with others attending institutes across Europe and South Africa.

Abbey Road Institute’s Campus Manager, Mike Sinnott added: “Since working with Sontronics we have received a consistently high level of personalised educational support. I am happy that we can now formally announce them as one of our key partners.”
