Yamaha’s latest earbuds intelligently balance music against background noise in order to prevent you from cranking up the volume and damaging your hearing.

The TW-E3B earbuds are fitted with Yamaha’s proprietary Listening Care technology, which is touted to deliver a full-range sound even at low volumes. It does so by monitoring the mix between music and what’s going on in your environment.

Yamaha believes that adaptively tuning sound to a set volume will prevent listeners from instinctively turning up in situations with loud background noise.

The World Health Organization has projected that one in four people worldwide (or 2.5 billion) will suffer some degree of hearing loss by 2050 due to risky listening habits.

Yamaha said in a statement: “Listening Care solves this issue, allowing lower volume listening by intelligently adjusting sound frequencies to maintain the full-range sound”.

The earbuds are also equipped with IPX5 water resistance and Bluetooth 5 connectivity with Qualcomm aptX streaming.

Yamaha claims the TW-E3B offers 24 hours of playtime with six hours from the buds themselves, and three charges from the case.

You can find the TW-E3B earbuds in six colours: black, purple, green, grey, blue and pink. They’ll be available in September priced at £119/€139
