Other-worldly delays and atmospheres await in Valhalla’s free plug-in, Supermassive

Valhalla’s latest – and free – time-based effects plug-in is the aptly named, Supermassive. It offers other-worldly delays, lush reverbs and a vast spectrum of atmospheric goodness, all in a plug-in deep enough to be used as an instrument on its own.
Supermassive operates on a network of tempo-synced delays – with adjustable delay settings of up to two seconds in length.
Signals can be pushed into transcendental sonic territory with the Warp control – beginning with phase/chorus-like qualities; and quickly evolving into cascading harmonic echos and minutes-long modulated reverbs at higher settings. The way the Warp control does this is by adjusting delay lengths relative to the delay setting, according to Valhalla.
Supermassive packs eight distinct delay/reverb modes – each ranging in attack, decay and echo density. The last of these dictates how present echos sound. Some modes, like ‘The Great Annihilator’, rely on a separate Density control to decide this. In effect, this allows music-makers to dial in “pointillistic echos, lush reverbs, echo clusters and all sorts of sounds in between.”
The plug-in also sports a Modulation section with depth and rate controls; hi- and low-pass filters; as well as wet/dry and stereo width controls.
This free offering from Valhalla packs a lot of depth beneath its simple looking UI and seems like it could be especially potent when used with ambient-type projects.
