A surprise announcement from Universal Audio‘s CEO reveals that its highly anticipated LUNA will release in just two weeks.

In his open letter, Bill Putnam JR. admits that LUNA won’t be released with “the big launch fanfare [it was] originally planning”, but in light of the global COVID-19 pandemic hopes it will serve a creative vessel for music makers globally.

“We do hope that it gives those of you lucky enough to be able to record music the inspiration to create something great — or at least a welcome escape from the outside world”.

UA’s LUNA is a recording application that seeks to transform Apollo interfaces into fully integrated recording systems. It features deep Apollo interface integration, built-in Neve Summing, Multitrack Tape Emulation, as well as UA’s long-awaited first foray into software instruments with LUNA Instruments. Among its instruments is a Minimoog emulation endorsed by Moog and a Ravel Grand Piano emulation.

As mentioned on its website, LUNA will be made available to all owners of the Apollo and Arrow Thunderbolt audio interfaces for free. Furthermore, LUNA will be included in all future Apollo devices.

We had the chance to take a look at Luna at the NAMM show earlier this year:
