Audio equipment manufacturer RØDE has unveiled its latest product, the RØDECaster Pro II.

The brand says the RØDECaster Pro II is an “all-in-one audio solution for content creators”, and includes upgrades from 2018’s original RØDECaster Pro. However, according to RØDE, the MKII has been “built from the ground up” and is “a completely new beast”.

Targeted at streamers, podcasters, YouTubers and content creators in general, the console is an audio production unit that condenses a professional broadcast studio down into a portable and affordable all-in-one solution.

On the device, RØDE gives you a mixer with nine assignable channels, six real faders and an additional three virtual faders.

On the right-hand side, there are eight SMART pads, which can be used to trigger both sounds or effects. These pads are MIDI-compatible, too. The pads can also be used to trigger actions on the mixer, such as fade-ins and fade-outs. There are 64 unique actions available to choose from and assign to the SMART pads.

The mixer and pads are configured so that they can be saved as presets, meaning users don’t have to assign the relevant effects to each pad or sounds to each channel every time they start a record. For content creators who want to use the RØDECaster Pro II for multiple instances, this is ideal.

Sound quality has also been improved on the Pro II, thanks to its inclusion of four Neutrik combo inputs that can be used to connect microphones and instruments. These feature the company’s “ultra-low-noise, high-gain Revolution Preamps”, which, according to RØDE, were built specifically for the RØDECaster Pro II.

In our review of the first RØDECaster Pro, we commended the unit for its audio flexibility and high-quality range of effects, dubbing it an impressive “crossover product” for podcasting and audio. However, we did go on to mention how, for users looking to carry out the most basic of production tasks, the RØDECaster Pro could be a “steep” price.

The RØDECaster Pro II can now be pre-ordered at $699. Find out more here.
