Tannoy introduces next-gen Gold Series studio monitors
Tannoy brings back the Gold Series of nearfield dual-concentric reference monitors, tailored to professionals.

The new Tannoy Gold 8 monitor.
Back in 1947, British brand Tannoy broke new ground in the speaker manufacturing industry with its innovative Dual Concentric driver. In a nutshell, this design enables speakers to emanate sound from one point and thus mitigate frequency interference in the crossover range. Tannoy has now announced the Gold series, a set of nearfield reference monitors featuring next-gen Dual Concentric driver technology.
According to Tannoy, the refreshed Dual Concentric driver brings two benefits: high-grade phase coherence and near-perfect point-source imaging. These qualities make the monitors a good fit for professionals in the fields of recording, broadcast and post-production.
The Gold series comprises three models: 5, 7 and 8. Their names refer to driver configurations: the first is fitted with a five-inch driver, the second a 6.5-inch driver, and the last an eight-inch driver.
All three monitors boast a titanium tweeter and a transducer-matched Class-AB bi-amplification system. The tweeters are formulated around a Tulip waveguide, which is key in the symmetrical dispersion of sound. This pattern of symmetrical dispersion, in turn, contributes to what the brand calls “a broad soundstage with remarkably focused and accurate stereo imaging”.
Round the monitors’ back, you’ll find active XLR and TRS inputs – that can connect up to two audio sources – a dedicated input trim and a two-band EQ.
Retails at $250 (5), $315 (7) and $385 (8). More info at tannoy.com.
