One of the accessories listed in Supreme’s spring/summer collection for 2021 is a special Akai MPC Live II in the brand’s signature colours.

The branded MPC Live II was announced yesterday (15 February) in a blog post on Hypebeast. It listed the beat-making device among other accessories such as a Yashica MF-1 Camera, Smeg Mini Fridge and Sea-Doo jet ski.

While it’s the first time the MPC has received the Supreme treatment, the streetwear fashion brand has collaborated with other music brands in the past. In 2017, it launched a striking white and red Stratocaster with Fender.

Supreme’s SS21 collection is due for release on 18 February in the US, and 20 February in Japan. No price has yet been released for the Supreme MPC Live II, but expect a hefty mark-up because of its device’s collectable nature.

The Akai MPC Live II builds on the legacy of the original beat-making device, adding an onboard battery and speakers for true portability. In our 9/10 review, we said: “If you’re looking for a new sampler/beat machine/sequencer to sit at the heart of your hardware rig – and one that integrates MIDI, CV and audio – this may be just what you’re looking for.”
