Avid debuts two audio control surfaces
The S1 and S4 are tailored to professionals working with smaller setups.

Avid has unveiled the S1 and S4, two compact audio control surfaces suited to professionals operating in smaller project studios. The S4 is a streamlined version of Avid’s large Pro Tools | S6 mixing desk, while the S1 gives you hands-on control over the Pro Tools | Control iPad app. Here are the details:
Avid S4
The S4 promises the mixing power of the S6, but in a more accessible and affordable package. A compact tool for audio post and music projects, it features a customisable semi-modular design that can be tweaked to suit different workflow needs. You have a choice of eight to 24 faders on the device on top of additional displays, joysticks as well as various knob modules.
This audio control surface is compatible with most EUCON-enabled DAWs, including Pro Tools, Nuendo, Cubase and Logic Pro.
Avid S1
The S1 is touted as a fast, responsive tool in a slim surface. As mentioned earlier, the S1 integrates with the free Pro Tools | Control iPad app, providing visual feedback. It also touts high-res OLED displays, eight touch-sensitive, motorised faders and “Soft Keys” that Avid says “enable you to perform complex tasks with a single press”.
Like the S4, the S1 is powered by EUCON, offering integration with Pro Tools, Cubase, Logic Pro and more. You can plug the Pro Tools | Dock into the S1 for dedicated transport controls, and even connect up to four S1 units together if you need a more extensive surface to work with.
Both the Avid S1 and S4 will be available late 2019. More info at avid.com.
