Spitfire Audio is back with another entry to its free LABS virtual instrument series: LABS Percussion.

The software instrument features drum hits, shakers, timbales, cowbells and congas. According to the brand, the sounds are ideal for “media composition and electronic production alike”.

Samples were recorded by producer-musicians Edward Scull and Sebastian Truman at Rosewood Studios in the UK, described by Spitfire as “purpose-built for pristine percussion recordings”.

Like other entries in the series, Percussion can be accessed via the LABS plug-in. It offers an array of adjustable parameters – including attack, release and reverb – to sculpt sounds to fit into your production.

While Spitfire continues to add to its free LABS series, the brand also announced several instrument collaborations with partners from all corners of music.

Last week, the brand released Landfill Totems, a collection of sounds drawn from scientific equipment. It was conceived in collaboration with electronic music composer Hainbach.

The brand also sampled the historic Beatles piano with Abbey Road Studios for Mrs Mills Piano. And last December, it launched Drumline, an instrument dedicated to bringing the Blue Devils drum corps to in-the-box productions.
