Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy Buds 2, the brand’s cheapest, smallest and lightest wireless earbuds to date.

Replacing the Galaxy Buds Plus in Samsung’s catalogue, the Galaxy Buds 2 sport a similar look to their predecessor. Each earbud packs a two-way driver with a woofer and tweeter, along with sound tuned by AKG.

There’s also active noise-cancelling and an ambient sound mode that lets in external noise with three level options. Samsung claims the Buds 2 can reduce background noise by up to 98 per cent.

As with the Galaxy Buds Plus, users will have rely on the Galaxy Wearable Android app to check battery levels, select different EQ presets, adjust ambient sound modes and more. However, iPhone users might want to wait: the Buds 2 aren’t compatible with the Galaxy Buds iOS app just yet.

Battery life on these is said to last up to five hours with noise-cancelling turned on, or up to 20 hours with the case. Other features include customisable long-press controls and a Find My Earbuds tool to help locate a misplaced bud.

The buds come in four colours – graphite, white, lavender and olive – each with a charging case that has a matching interior and white exterior.

The Galaxy Buds 2 are the cheapest product in Samsung’s earbuds line at $150 a set. Pre-orders begin today and they’ll be widely available on 27 August.
