Up for a surprise addition to your rig? Why, of course you are. Reverb’s latest holiday campaign is a series of Mystery Boxes, each containing a “hand-crafted” instrument. Best of all, a donation of equal value will be made to a youth music education organisation – so you get to give the gift of music while opening yours.
The Mystery Boxes cost $25 apiece and Reverb promises to include an instrument valued between $38 to $95 – the catch, of course, is that you won’t know exactly what you’re going to get. If you’d like a hint, Reverb challenged a number of artists to create music with their Mystery Box items, which you can check out here.
On its website Reverb says: “Want to spice up the season with a taste of the fantastic unknown? This Mystery Box contains an instrument from an independent maker—built with love and ready to refresh your rig with a sense of childlike wonder.”
Boxes will be replenished every Thursday at 10 AM CST until 9 December, and so far, they’ve been pretty popular with buyers and a bit tricky to pick up. However, you can add the item to your Watchlist for a better shot at getting your hands on one.
The campaign serves Brooklyn’s Willie Mae Rock Camp, a nonprofit music and mentoring program dedicated to empowering girls and gender-expansive youth, through the Reverb Gives program.
