The microphones are touted to be budget-friendly alternatives to studio workhorses, with the WA-CX12 recreating the Telefunken C12 and the WA-47F taking inspiration from the Neumann U47. Both will be showcased at Warm Audio’s booth at the NAMM Show 2022.
Warm Audio WA-47F
Designed to reflect the low-noise behaviour, quick transient response and detail-driven capture of its inspiration, the WA-47F is a FET-style microphone that’s said to be as adept at capturing kick drums and cranked amps as it is at recording vocals and horns.
At the heart of the WA-47F is a faithful reproduction of the vintage K47-style capsule, which is said to offer ultra-wide frequency response and detail. That’s paired to a custom TAB-Funkenwerk USA Output Transformer.
The WA-47F also comes in a premium wood box with an integrated hard mount. It will be available in July at $799/€899.
Warm Audio WA-CX12
This tube microphone draws from the natural and balanced sound of the Telefunken C12, with the aim of offering a clear mid-range and a smooth high-end. According to Warm Audio, the WA-CX12 is an ideal choice for recording vocals, piano performances, as well as “epic, natural room sounds.”
It features a custom, solid brass CK12-style capsule modelled after the original, along with a 12AY7 vacuum tube and a large-core TAB-Funkenwerk USA output transformer. “With no-compromise components and elite build quality, the WA-CX12 delivers that iconic sound that no personal or professional mic locker is complete without,” said Warm Audio in a statement.
The WA-CX12 will be available for pre-order this July at a price of $999 / 1179€ / £999.
