NAMM 2022: Pioneer DJ has welcomed three new desktop speakers into the DM Series family, aimed at users who “want to play DJ sets or make [their] own music at home.”

At £229, the DM-50D-BT is the most expensive speaker of the range. If its name sounds familiar, that’s because it is basically the bluetooth-enabled version of the popular DM-50D speakers released in late 2021. Now you can easily pair your smartphone, mobile device, or laptop and play high-quality tracks wirelessly.

On the smaller and more wallet-friendly side of things, we have the new 4-inch DM-40D-BT (£149) and DM-40D (£149) that come with or without Bluetooth respectively. Both offer upgrades to the compact DM-40 models that have served DJs and producers well for several years.

New features across the board include a new Class D amplifier with 96 kHz sampling DSP, grooved speaker ducts that ensure a tight and punchy bass, and an updated DECO convex diffuser which helps deliver crystal-clear high frequencies in every direction.

With RCA, mini jack, and the newly added TRS input terminals, you can connect different kinds of gear such as DJ controllers and mixers, or the laptop or sound card you use for music production. Connecting and disconnecting your headphones is simple via the socket on the front panel of the speaker. There’s no need to reach around the back to adjust the volume either, as the level knob is also front-facing.

If you have trouble deciding whether you want to perform DJ sets, make your own music at home, or regularly switch between the two, rest assured because all three models feature a switch that allows you to toggle between DJ and production modes. The DSP settings will automatically adjust to create the best sound for each application.

All units are sold in pairs, and come in black or white finish so you can pick the colour that best suits the setting in your home.
