Meris’ Hedra is a MIDI-controllable pitch-shifter and delay pedal
Mercury 7 makers serve up a stompbox with three-voice harmonisation and delay capabilities.
You may know Meris as the hand behind pro audio modules like the 500-series Mercury7 reverb or the video game-influenced Ottobit. But, the brand is also regarded for its unique collection of modulation guitar pedals, and its latest release, Hedra, continues in that vein of sonic exploration.
MIDI-controlled
Although Meris refers to Hedra as a rhythmic pitch shifter that can add three voices to your instrument, it’s also a MIDI-controllable harmoniser that can be played in real-time with a MIDI keyboard. And with preset switching and MIDI clock sync available, you’ll be able to integrate the pedal into a studio rig or larger live setup.
Without a MIDI keyboard input, a Key function offers chromatic or key-based harmonies and a range of selectable scales. And for more quirky sound effects, Hedra also has a Micro Tune control for detuning and pitch correction.
Delay modes
Besides its pitch-shifting capabilities, Hedra also doubles up as a well-heeled delay pedal, offering you four delay settings with tap tempo. Interestingly, after the delay effect is applied to each voice, it’s routed back into four matrices, yielding results that may be predictable – or not, according to Meris.
