Kits Kreme Textures

There’s something about tape noise and vinyl crackle that so many producers seem to pine over in their productions – and Kits Kreme seems well aware of this. Textures is the second plug-in from the new developer, following its lo-fi-sounding virtual instrument, Lush. Textures is a simple, affordable plug-in that is designed to add dust, crackle, mechanical noise, tape noise, nature environments and more to your sounds.

The plug-in features 75 different textures to overlay your sounds with, categorised into Foley Noise, Mechanical Noise, Tape Hiss, Soundscape, Nature Environments and Vinyl Crackles. Once you’ve picked your texture, you can use low- and high-pass filters to shape your sound, either to cut unwanted low-end or attenuate harsh high-frequency content. A master gain dial is just next to the filter controls to ensure you’re affecting your sound exactly as much as you desire.

Below the filter panel is an effects panel, which includes a wow effect and a reverb. These are pretty simple effects; the reverb is just one wet/dry parameter and the wow effect is controlled via a rate knob and depth knob. Wow is how you will affect the pitch and speed of your texture, emulating the characteristics of tape machines and turntables.

Textures is available for Windows and macOS 64-bit for all DAWs excluding Pro Tools. Kits Kreme has applied an introductory discount to Textures, dropping it from $29 to $14.

Textures is available to purchase now. Find out more at kitskreme.com
