IKEA’s new bluetooth speaker lamp will allow you to resume your Spotify playback with a single tap of a button.

Built with portability in mind, the mushroom-looking Vappeby is a mix of old-school aesthetics and modern features. Each unit comes with a rechargeable battery and a built-in LED bulb with two different light modes. The speaker lamp also has a battery life of up to 12 hours and an IP65 splash rating, making it a reliable camping buddy even on those rainy nights.

More interestingly, the Vappeby features Spotify Tap, and is apparently the first speaker on the market to do so (at present, only a select number of headphones and earphones come with that function). Announced last year, Spotify Tap simplifies the streaming process by letting you resume your Spotify tunes from where you last left off.

Vappeby’s power button duals as a button that “wakes up” Spotify from the connected device. Pressed once, Spotify will resume playing from where it last left off. And if pressed again, It will generate new music based on the user’s listening preferences.

On this, Stjepan Begic, product owner at IKEA says: “It was a perfect match. Imagine how great it is to get another suggestion through a simple press of a button at a party or gathering.”

”It removes the pressure to be a DJ or the risk of somebody having to dive into their phone to change the music, only to get stuck on some text message and disappear from the moment,” he added.

Slated to arrive next month, the Vappeby will be available in blue and grey for $64.99 in most IKEA markets. It comes with a USB-C cable for charging and the Spotify Tap function will be available in all Spotify markets.
