Hone your beat-making chops with SoundGym’s new BeatRace platform
Daily challenges, hourly competitions and more.

BeatRace’s interface
SoundGym, the site devoted to ear training for producers, has unveiled BeatRace, an interactive online platform designed to help beat-makers improve their skills.
BeatRace’s intuitive format bears similarities to Melodics, a desktop app that teaches you to play MIDI keyboards, pad controllers, and drums. The newer platform, however, has a more game-like approach compared to Melodics. With BeatRace, you can take up daily beat ‘workouts’ and participate in hourly beat-making competitions to win prizes.
The aforementioned workouts include challenging beat games that target different skill sets. You can try your hand at recreating a drum pattern from scratch along with identifying BPM and swing values. The hourly competitions, on the other hand, involve reconstructing beats as fast as possible. Weekly leaders will be rewarded with two Accusonus plug-ins: Regroover and Beatformer.
Additionally, BeatRace features an online drum machine, which you can use to create and share drum sequences as well as load, save and download your grooves. To get you started, the platform offers 11 classic drum machine kits.
