Glou-Glou, the boutique pedal builders behind analogue multi-effects such as the Steak distortion station and Moutarde phase-locked loop fuzz, have returned with Loupé. The brand’s first digitally-powered offering is a creative looper and delay that packs a host of powerful performance features.

The brand has suggested that the Loupé has a spiritual connection of sorts to the Gibson Echoplex Digital Pro (EDP). It shares the same main functions – Record, Overdub, Replace, Multiply, Insert, Trig, Mute, Start – as the original.

The pedal’s nine assignable switches – five footswitches and four buttons – can be routed to effects and other functions.

A big part of the pedals operating philosophy lies in its presets (dubbed Games). There are 50 factory ones and 49 slots for users, each featuring its own switch configuration. For example, one preset may have buttons assigned to different pitch effects, and in another, filter settings.

You’ll also be able to switch between different presets without affecting loop playback, allowing you to build more complex loops.

Aside from that, the Loupé offers two line/mic inputs, a record time of 43 seconds, 127 layers of undo and a scroll function that lets you jog through and move slices of the loop internally. Effects include pitch, reverse, stutter, drift, auto-follow, redux and pitch modulation to either a sine or random waveform.

The Loupé will be available starting tomorrow (15 May) with a price of €500/$650.
