The Wave x WIDI Master: the ultimate wearable MIDI duo?

If you’ve ever wanted to control MIDI by waving your hand like a jedi master, then the Wave from Genki Instruments might be the wearable controller you’re looking for.
Previously the Wave could only communicate with your computer through a companion app. Now, however, it’s found new compatibility with the WIDI Master – a MIDI-to-Bluetooth adapter from CME – allowing you to control all sorts of MIDI devices without a computer.

Undoubtedly, this opens the door to a slew of plethora of live performance options – particularly if you’re an artist with a flair for the dramatics (we’ll let you use your imagination here).
The Wave has six functions. Tilt and Pan modes read vertical and horizontal movements, respectively. Meanwhile, the Roll mode simulates the gesture of rotating your hand as if twisting a knob.
Vibrato mode reads the motion of your wrist while playing a physical instrument, and Tap mode turns surfaces into a drum pad – where your finger instead of the surface is the trigger. Finally, Click mode functions as a ‘button’ which you could, for example, assign to cycle through presets.
