Focal has expanded its Alpha Evo line with two new loudspeakers and a subwoofer to offer an affordable monitoring solutions for small studios.
The new products include the Alpha 80 Evo and Alpha Twin Evo – adding on from the Alpha Evo 50 and Alpha Evo 65 introduced last year – along with the Sub One, which Focal says is a match for any multi-monitor set-up.
Alpha Evo 80 and Alpha Twin Evo
Both new loudspeakers feature Slatefiber cones produced in France with recycled carbon fiber. The Alpha Evo 80 has an 8-inch woofer, while the Twin Evo packs two 6.5-inch woofers; both also have one-inch aluminium inverted dome tweeters as well.
These monitors appear tailored to smaller studio environments, with the Alpha Evo 80 offering 80 watts of power for low and mid-range frequencies, 35 watts for highs and a frequency range of 38Hz to 22kHz.
The Twin Evo on the other hand offers 130 watts of power in total, with two 50-watt amplifiers for low and mid-range frequencies and 30-watts for highs. It too has a frequency range of 38 Hz to 22 kHz.
Some new features in both models are a 1/4” TRS input jack and an automatic standby power mode which can be switched off. The Alpha Evo 80 also features inserts for wall and ceiling mounting.
Sub One
This 200-watt subwoofer is designed to accompany models from the Alpha Evo and Shape series. It features two 8-inch, double-skinned Slatefiber cone woofers and has a frequency range that goes down to 32 Hz.

Focal’s new monitor products will be available in US and Canada this month. The Alpha 80 Evo and Alpha Twin Evo are priced at $549 and $659, respectively. Meanwhile, the Sub One is sold at $999.
