San Diego, California-based Cleer Audio has announced the Ally Plus II, a pair of earbuds designed in collaboration with Mimi Hearing that’s designed to customise sound based on your ear health and help you maintain that ear health through Mimi Sound Personalisation.

With the Centre for Disease Control in the United States announcing findings in February that one in four American adults aged 21 to 69 has symptoms of noise-induced hearing loss, ear health is a more concerning and prevalent issue than is obvious to the eye.

It’s with this concern in mind that the Ally Plus II was designed. The earbuds require users to take a short audio test in order to examine individual audio sensitivities which are shaped by genetics, age, lifestyle and environmental factors. This then creates a unique sound profile.

This profile then works with Mimi Sound Personalisation allows users to adapt the audio signal to their unique hearing ability, which then compensates for any hearing loss the user might be experiencing. Mimi uses the profile to maintain healthy audio levels whenever the user picks the earbuds up.

It’s a very similar concept to the Nura Nuratrue, which we reviewed back in August. The Nuratrue also offers a personalised listening experience based on a custom profile of your ear after a short test, a feature that impressed our reviewer. As listening experiences become more advanced, taking ear health into consideration to present the best tuned audio profile for the user may become more of a standard in the industry.

Philipp Skribanowitz, CEO of Mimi, said in a press statement that the work done with Cleer Audio to produce the Ally Plus II is “an opportunity to help reduce hearing loss and provide customers with an easy solution that provides them with hearing protection, sound augmentation and personalisation features.”

The Ally Plus II boasts up to 11 hours of playback on a full charge with a further 33 hours in the charging case. QI Wireless Charging is supported, and is the earbuds are rated IPX4 water and sweat resistant.

The Ally Plus II is now available in US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany and China, which more territories to be announced in 2022. Orders can be made on Cleer Audio’s website after a minimum purchase of $70.
