Behringer has unveiled the Behringer PRO-VS Hybrid Vector synth, a compact Prophet V-inspired instrument with a keyboard that costs just $99.

The four-voice hybrid vector synth features analogue filters and retains the 4D joystick from the Sequential VS, while boasting 127 wavetables and 32 presets plus sequencer, an arpeggiator and an oscilloscope display alongside a bank of controls. 12 knobs let you adjust 2 LFOS and various filters on the PRO-VS. Its compact size is reminiscent of products in the Korg Volca line, and the PRO-VS does include a mini touch keyboard.

In terms of connectivity, the PRO-VS comes with a headphone output, sync, MIDI input, and a USB.

Sequential’s 1986 Prophet VS featured 16 voices and a 61-note keyboard, as well as digital oscillators and Curtis-style digital-controlled analog filters. At the time, it retailed for £1,899 which is a far cry from the affordable PRO-VS which is expected to retail at $99 once Behringer themselves have received the chips for the PRO-VS.

Given the shortage of chips available across the world, Behringer has yet to name a date for pre-orders or a tentative shipping date for the PRO-VS.

Behringer recently launched the Behringer Edge, a percussive synth that seems to be a companion instrument of sorts to the Behringer Crave. A percussive synth that seems to be a companion instrument of sorts to the Behringer Crave, the Edge features two oscillators with triangle and square waveforms, a noise generator with pink and white profiles, a decay envelope, high- and low-pass filters and dual eight-step sequencers with pitch and velocity knobs.
