Austrian Audio has introduced two additions to its Hi-X series that come more accessibly priced and better equipped to perform in the studio, onstage, in rehearsals and more. These are the HI-X15 and wireless HI-X25BT closed-back headphones.
Austrian Audio was founded by former employees of AKG and impressed in its first foray into the headphone world with the Hi-X55 model.
The new Hi-X15 and Hi-X25BT models are said to offer an “extremely fast response” and accurate sound reproduction with low THD at low frequencies. That’s thanks to its unique Hi-X 44mm driver and ring magnet system.
“Our science, measurements, and listening tests have shown that 44mm is the optimum size for this design,” according to the brand. “It ensures professional [performance], moves a lot of air, and eliminates ‘wobbling’ of the diaphragm. This is akin to damping of the driver mass, which is where our membrane really shows results: it is ultra-stiff while still reducing unwanted resonance.”
Both models were also designed to be robust, with a folding design that lets you easily transport them and memory foam ear pads for added comfort during long sessions. The X25BT is a wireless model with Bluetooth, allowing them to double as headphones for music listening. It also has a built-in microphone to let you take calls.
The Hi-X15 and Hi-X25BT go on sale in September at £89/$119 and £135/$179, respectively.
