The ear plugs are designed to offer “balanced noise reduction” across the frequency spectrum. And with their solid aluminium body design, they offer a lot of amplitude reduction. They’re rated at SNR 32, meaning they’ll reduce the volume of sounds by about 32dB.
Each pair comes with three sizes of memory foam tips that promise a better fit than traditional foam ear plugs. Durability also seems to be a core focus of the Attenu8 ear plugs: tips are said to last between six to eight weeks, while the metal body will last years.
A Kickstarter campaign for the Attenu8 ear plugs was funded within its first 24 hours, and will close on 8 September. If you miss your chance to score a pair from the Kickstarter project at $23, then you can get them at $28 beginning in November.
With that much reduction, SoundBlock Asia suggests the Attenu8 is ideal for sleeping, performing music live, flying and even for those with autism who are sensitive to loud noises.
