Apple is set to hold its next special event this 18 October, and MacBook users will want to pay specific attention as the rumoured redesigned 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models may be finally unveiled.

The event will be a digital-only event broadcast from the Steve Jobs Theatre on Apple’s Cupertino, California-based campus, and can be watched live on Apple’s website, YouTube, and through the ‌‌Apple TV‌‌ app.

The new MacBook Pros will reportedly come with Apple’s new M1X chip, which as the name suggests, will be a more powerful version of the M1 chip, and can support up to 32GB RAM, which producers will definitely appreciate for running heavier music-making sessions.

MacRumours suggests the redesigned MacBooks will sport thinner bezels with larger displays, and may support 3024 x 1964 and 3456 x 2234 resolutions.

The new MacBooks may also bring back MagSafe charging feature to replace the current USB-C charging port, which will free up more ports for gear.

An exciting feature being touted by various outlets is the mini-LED display with a 120Hz refresh rate that will allow for a crisper GUI when using plug-ins. These new MacBooks will be the first to receive both the mini-LED display and 120Hz refresh rates, should the rumours be true.

Several other key features like the return of HDMI and SD card slots are also expected.

Apple analyst and leaker @dylandkt has suggested both the 14 and 16-inch models will be similar in price due to both utilising the M1X chip, and both base models will reportedly sport 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Interestingly, he also reports that there will be a new charging brick as well.

Other possible highlights may include the reveal of Apple’s AirPods 3, as well as the announcement of the macOS Monterey launch.
