Personalised sound specialist Nura has announced the Fool’s Gold edition of its Nuratrue wireless earbuds. The limited-edition reskin comes in collaboration with A-Trak and Nick Catchdubs’ revered dance and hip-hop label, Fool’s Gold.

Fool’s Gold, founded in 2007, bridges the gaps between hip-hop and electronic music, releasing music by artists including Danny Brown, Duck Sauce, Run The Jewels and Kid Cudi. Nura says that the Fool’s Gold Nuratrue captures “the essence of indie”, and that they represent the brands’ shared vision of “chang[ing] expectations around how music should sound”.

Nura has implemented its celebrated personalised sound architecture into the Nuratrue. The wireless earbuds use tiny microphones to measure otoacoustic emissions that the listener’s ears generate in response to a range of tones played by the earbuds. The results feed into a self-learning engine that creates a personal hearing profile, custom-tuning the music to their ears.

Nuratrue also boasts active noise cancellation, an immersion setting for deeper bass, a social mode and customisable touch buttons.

Fool’s Gold founder Nick Catchdubs says: “We don’t put out every type of music or artist; there’s a Fool’s Gold vibe and approach that’s unique and distinct. So the fact that Nura lets you literally personalise sound to your own ears is very appealing and on-brand for us. With Fool’s Gold Limited Edition Nuratrue, the bold colours are striking and immediate, and the box design puts a handmade spin on the nura aesthetic. These don’t look, feel or sound like a generic earbud.”

In our review of the Nuratrue buds, we said: “Nuratrue is a clever system that provides a listening experience tailored to the listener and literally to the shape of their ear canals. Sonically they are excellent, with bags of power and clarity across all frequencies.

Hardcore audiophiles might baulk at the idea that music is being processed differently from the way it was originally mixed, but plenty of earbuds don’t do this. For those after an exciting and dynamic listening experience, Nuratrue certainly punch above their weight.”

Fool’s Gold Limited Edition Nuratrue is available now for £229/$229.
