Fender and audio tech brand Mobile Fidelity Electronics (MoFi) have announced the audiophile-grade PrecisionDeck turntable, inspired by the Fender Precision Bass.

The Fender x MoFi PrecisionDeck is a limited-edition turntable, with only 1,000 units available to purchase at a price of $3,495 each. It’s an extravagant purchase, but Fender says that the “high-performance turntable” is “meticulously built, with every part and function having gone through extensive testing to ensure optimal performance.” Additionally, the turntable features technology from MoFi’s award-winning UltraDeck.

PrecisionDeck’s 1.3-inch-thick Delrin platter ensures a low noise floor and consistent rotation, while a 300RPM isolated AC motor reduces unwanted vibrations. It also features a 10-inch straight aluminium gimbaled bearing Ultra tonearm with Cardas Audio wiring, anti-vibration feed and a hardened-steel inverted bearing system.

The stylus is a Micro-Line diamond stylus, with a V-Twin dual-magnet generator in the cartridge.

Of course, the turntable’s finish is deeply reminiscent of Fender guitars and basses, with a three-colour sunburst. It’s also built with the same ash wood that Fender uses to build its Precision Bass guitar, and was designed by the Fender Custom Shop’s principal master builder Yuriy Shishkov.

Each PrecisionDeck is individually numbered and badged, making it a potential collector’s item. It also comes with a dust cover to help keep it in great condition. The release marks 75 years since Fender’s name has graced a turntable, with Leo Fender designing and patenting a turntable with Doc Kauffman and Clifton Abbott in 1945, before selling the rights for $5,000.

The Fender x MoFi PrecisionDeck is available now in the US at mofi.com and fender.com.
