The International Music Education Summit returns for 2019
65 live-streamed clinics for professional music educators.
Wherever you are in the world, if you have a passion for music education, you’ll be able to attend the International Music Education Summit. That’s because the conference is completely live-streamed – all you need is an internet connection.
From 13 to 15 June, a global cast of music educators will be at hand to present 65 comprehensive clinics and masterclasses to professionals in the music education community. These include everything from making sight-reading fun to teaching through podcasts to forming a student rock band in school. Supplementary material will also be provided in the form of free downloads.
Other highlights of the Summit include a panel discussion with the winners of the Global Teacher Prize, a keynote from Marcia Neel, who has 36 years of public school music education experience, and a talk by Mandy Hollingshead on how to use ‘technology shortcuts’ in the classroom. A certified Apple and Google educator, Hollingshead has led workshops in Asia, North America and the Middle East – and she’s just one among many presenters with an illustrious CV.
Not only are conference attendees able to learn from the comfort of their homes, they can also pose questions and collaborate with one another. A private Facebook group – dubbed The Teacher’s Lounge – will also be set up to provide networking opportunities for attendees and presenters alike.
Supporting the Summit are a string of companies dedicated to music education. These include D’Addario, KHS America, BandLab Technologies and Rhythm Band Instruments.
