Boss has revealed the SY-1000, a next-generation synthesiser and modelling processor pedal for guitar and bass.

Alongside extensive instrument modelling, the SY-1000 also offers a recreation of the GR-300, the OSC analogue synth engine and a brand new Dynamic Synth. All three offer numerous filter options, but the Dynamic Synth is the most fully-featured, with ten oscillator waveforms, six filter types, amplifier control, two LFOs and two 16-part step sequencers for automating pitch, filter, and amplitude parameters.

According to Boss, the SY-1000 is the culmination of decades of R&D. It uses custom DSP and GK independent string processing to bring features like ultra-articulate tracking, lightning-fast response, and instantly variable tuning, says the brand, plus sound panning and layering options.

Using the 13-pin GK input provides the user access to all of the synth and instrument sounds the SY-1000 has to offer, but will require a Roland GK-compatible pickup and a 13-pin cable to do so.

The BOSS SY-1000 will be available in January 2020, listing for $999.99. More information at boss.info.
