Viennese synth manufacturer Birdkids has announced the new °Grid controller, a wireless handheld device that allows for tactile interaction with creative apps. It is the first entry of an upcoming series of wireless handheld peripherals.
According to the developers, the °Grid controller allows the user to play keys, make beats, remix, VJ and more on any device. It is compatible with most digital platforms (iOS, Android, PC, Mac) and can operate either wirelessly or via its built-in USB-C port. The °Grid is powered by high-capacity integrated lithium ion battery that also increases its potential for extended out-of-house usage.
The °Grid controller features 16 LED-backlit, durable, pressure-sensitive touch pads arranged in a 4×4 layout. An additional multi-directional joystick is also included in the front panel for additional workflow functionality. A cross-platform, companion app visually maps parameters to pads and enables colour-coding, as well as saving, presets for instant recall to control any Bluetooth or Wi-Fi enabled, MIDI / OSC compatible app or external hardware.
The controller itself is constructed out of lightweight and biodegradable materials, and is available in multiple colour finishes. Watch the product demo below:
The Birdkids °Grid will be available for sale in January 2020 for €89. For more information, click here.
