Behringer RD-6

Initially teased at The BAMM Show in Banaheim – Behringer’s spoof of The Namm Show 2020 – the RD-6 drum machine is now being rolled out. While the original Roland TR-606 was manufactured with just a silver finish, Behringer has given you a whole palette of colours to choose from.

The RD-6 is fully analogue and features eight classic drum sounds inspired by the TR-606 – except for the clap, which has been taken from the BOSS DR-110 drum machine. The 16-step sequencer can switch between 32 separate patterns, with the ability to link them up to 250 bars worth of sequences.

11 controls and 26 switches comprise the drum machine, giving you access to essential parameters. In the top right is a distortion panel, which can be switched on and off and shaped with the three dedicated knobs. The distortion is modelled after the coveted BOSS DS-1 distortion pedal.

Behringer’s RD-6 is available in 10 colours, some of which match the skins of the TD-3 – namely the Acid Yellow, red, blue and original silver. As you can see in the above image, though, they didn’t hold back on making these as colourful as possible.

To hook up the RD-6 to the rest of your set-up, Behringer has built the machine with MIDI I/O, USB, Mix Out and 3.5mm outputs for each individual voice. There are also some connections for hooking up to other Behringer gear.

This news should be a relief for many Behringer fans, who have expressed some dismay in the brand’s marketing tactic of teasing products too far in advance. The RD-9, for example, has been in production for over a year now and, despite a progress video uploaded to YouTube, is yet to receive a release date.

The RD-6 is now shipping with orders expected to arrive in the next few weeks at a price of €149. Find out more at behringer.com
