Behringer drops more info on the long-awaited RD-9

Behringer‘s TR-909 revival has been in the works for over three years now, which has left many eager fans frustrated. However, a new update on the RD-9’s progress has been revealed today, with the company saying that shipping will commence in the next two months.

The RD-9 features an authentic mode and an enhanced mode. Authentic mode lets you sequence similar sounds to Roland’s legendary TR-909, making use of Behringer’s custom-made analogue components. There are some more modern performance controls included on the RD-9, though. RD-9’s enhanced mode will give you access to more of the advanced, up-to-date features.
Pitch and pitch depth control can be altered on the bass drum and hi-hat, which were not previously found on the 909. The RD-9 also sports more connectivity options, allowing easy integration into your studio.
There has been no word on price as of yet, but it’s speculated to have a similar price tag of the RD-8. In that case, we expect a price of $349/299. Behringer says that the RD-9 is “priced to suit people’s pockets, without being pocket-sized”.
