As part of its ongoing musical collaboration, Beatport and Microsoft Surface are hosting an interactive day of artist-led workshops and music production masterclasses on 28 April 2022 at the International Music Summit (IMS) Ibiza.

The two companies will bring their Originals² platform to the IMS College programme at Tox club, Destino. Attendees will glean valuable insight on “turbo-charging their production processes,” according to the brands, while getting to grips with futuristic music tech tools.

Berlin-based Joplyn will be sharing details of her live rig to attendees, followed by a special live performance. Afro-leaning electronic music DJ/producer AMÉMÉ will impart wisdom on how to curate playlists for specific sets using the Beatport DJ App and Surface Laptop Studio, while Cici and Alex Kennon’s In Conversation session will provide an overview of the music release process. They’ll share tips on how to get noticed by labels and how to prolong a track’s shelf life.

Meanwhile, Inder Phull, CEO of deadmau5 and Richie Hawtin-founded PIEXELYNX, will be hosting an NFT music design workshop.

Delegates are also given the opportunity to drop in for one-on-one production feedback sessions and career coaching as they check out Microsoft’s product demonstrations. Beatport will conclude the day with the Beatport Industry Hour, where attendees will learn more about new industry trends, partnerships and products in electronic music.

Finally, the four winners of Giolì & Assia’s global remix competition will perform a “world-first four-person b2b livestream set with the Beatport’s DJ App’s Party Mode,” says Beatport and Microsoft. The Party Mode app allows up to four DJs to remotely collaborate on realtime sets from different locations and is optimised for Microsoft Surface. Plus, up to 100 viewers within the web browser app can listen in on the collaboration.

Ed Hill, SVP of Beatport Media Services says: “At Beatport, our mission is to empower and inspire a global audience of DJs, producers, and their fans by offering them the very latest in music technology as well as unparalleled access to the latest in electronic music content.

“So we are delighted to be continuing our successful Originals² collaboration with Microsoft Surface and delivering this rich day of programming at IMS. Immersive, interactive, and enriching, we’re set to offer the inside track on the very latest in dance and technology”

Beatport and Microsoft Surface’s Originals² partnership launched in 2021 with Jamie Jones and Loco Dice each performing a set with Beatport DJ App’s Party Mode.

The IMS Ibiza Summit 2022 takes place on 27-29 April 2022 at Destino Pacha Ibiza Resort. Find out more at internationalmusicsummit.com.
