BAE was showing two new devices at this week’s AES Convention in New York: a new 500-series EQ based on the classic Neve inductor EQ and a three-slot 500-series power rack that fits into a 19-inch rack space.

The 73EQL is a three-band equaliser with a variable low-cut filter designed to give you the sound of the classic Neve 1073 EQ. BAE also prides itself on the build quality of its devices and it’s president Mark Loughman is convinced this is “the best sounding 500 series EQ on the market.” The 73EQL costs $950.

The LA-based company also showed its new R53 500-series power rack which is ideal for putting together a 500-series channel strip. The horizontal 500-series rack has a linking option for running one module into the next but also has XLR outputs from each module should you want to address each module individually.

The R53 is made of solid steel and is available in two configurations: Unloaded costs $450 while a version pre-loaded with a 312 preamp/DI module, 500C FET compressor and G10 graphic EQ will set you back $2736.
