Austrian Audio says that the Hi-X65s makes mixing and mastering a pleasure, with reliable bass imaging, low total harmonic distortion at low frequencies, a linear frequency response and an open, detailed sound.
Hi-X65 features Austrian Audios Hi-X (High Excursion) technology to produce “transparent sound”. According to the company, the headphones are built with a 44mm driver and a ring magnet system to enable airflow, with the “strongest magnetic field in its class”. The magnet and copper-clad aluminium voice coil lighten the membrane allowing it to move quickly for a more responsive impulse reaction.
The headphones feature a frequency response range of 5Hz to 28kHz, with a sensitivity of 11dBspl and impedance of 25 ohms.
Austrian Audio’s Hi-X65 earpads are made from memory foam and give your ears more space without increasing external dimensions. Additionally, contact pressure on the headband is reduced thanks to soft memory foam padding. The headband and ear pads can also be exchanged and replaced.
According to Austrian Audio, the metal moving and load-bearing components ensure maximum load capacity. Their 25 ohms impedance results in reliable listening despite the sound source – high-end amps, reference AD converters, analogue mixers, mobile players and more.
The Hi-X65s come with 1.2m and 3m cables that “are tailored to the technical data and subtleties of the headphones”, Austrian Audio says. A secure locking mechanism keeps the 3.5mm jack cables stably hooked up to the headphones, and an adapter to quarter-inch stereo jack is included.
Austrian Audio’s Hi-X65 will be available from May in Europe and the UK, July 2021 for the USA, Canada and Asia. They will cost £319/$419/€349.
