At AES New York 2019, Audeze spoke to us about their new mixing headphones, the LCD-1. A scaled-down version of Audeze’s LCD-X, the new headphones offer a lightweight design, with planar magnetic technology. This provides high-quality sound with “extra-low distortion and a wide, even frequency response”, we’re told.

Sporting an open-back, over-ear design, the LCD-1 headphones are catered to producers on the go, providing them with an industry-standard quality of sound. According to the brand, the frequency response ranges from 10hz to 50kHz, making the audible band remarkably neutral. Coupled with the planar magnetic drivers, these headphones will be worth considering for home recordists looking for headphones with accurate sound for mixing.

The LCD-1 cable is interchangeable between connections to left and right, delivering the same left/right audio information whichever you plug into. The earpads are replaceable too, and are made with memory foam for extra comfort.

Audeze’s LCD-1 headphones are available to order now and are expected to ship within two weeks. The price tag is $399 which is a competitive price for the audio quality promised.
