Akai Pro MPC Beats

The brand behind the iconic MPC sampler series, Akai Pro, has introduced a free new DAW, MPC Beats. Inspired by the MPC hardware and MPC2 desktop software, the beat-making DAW is catered to aspiring producers, providing all the tools required to start creating professional-sounding tracks.

MPC Beats offers a 4×4 drum grid, piano roll, sample library and sample editing window to start arranging tracks, which hardware MPC users will be instantly familiar with. Users can swiftly and effortlessly switch between these working environments for a creative and efficient way to craft beats. MPC Beats includes smart layouts from a selection of included beat templates, providing an ideal starting point for new producers wanting to master the MPC workflow.

Boasting a 2GB content library, MPC Beats features the most sought-after sound libraries of the MPC Expansion Packs. The collection packs everything from drum kits with booming kicks and tight snares to three plug-in instruments – Bassline, Tubesynth and Electric. Getting a perfect mixdown is made possible with over 80 effects plug-ins from the premium AIR Effects collection, allowing users to transform their ideas into sleek productions.

The software offers 10 tracks to lay down ideas, which is great for those looking to experiment with producing, but perhaps not expansive enough for the more detailed producer. Two audio tracks are onboard to sample vocals, instruments and textures, while eight MIDI/instrument tracks can be used to create original material. Third-party AU and VST plug-ins are supported, so you can make the most of other free tools that are available online. For complete integration, MPC Beats can function as a plug-in within other DAWs to merge workflows.

Getting hands-on with MPC Beats is a breeze, thanks to integrated hardware control. Hook up MIDI controllers like Akai’s LPK25 and LPD8, or standalone MPC hardware, with seamless connectivity to the DAW. MPC Beats comes auto-mapped to other popular controllers from a range of brands, cutting out any roadblocks to your creativity.

Senior product manager Dan Gill says of MPC Beats: “We’re always looking to better understand and identify the evolving profile of music makers. With MPC Beats, we’ve created a powerful platform for a rapidly growing demographic, equipping them with every tool to eliminate barriers between their ideas and their creations. We’ve paired the best of the MPC history with comprehensive and intuitive workflows to give the next generation the best possible start to their musical journey.”
