Virtuoso

Virtuoso, the online virtual music classroom, is hosting masterclass sessions from Afrodeutsche, Moonchild Sanely and Yasmin Evans.

The first session with Afrodeutsche has already taken place, but is available online to view now. Afrodeutsche, real name Henrietta Smith-Rolla, is a composer, producer and DJ who has worked with Aphex Twin, Carl Craig, and teamed up with Spitfire Audio on the brand’s Spectrum instrument.

The next lesson will be with South African singer and songwriter Moonchild Sanely on 29 March. She will talk about her journey as an artist and performer creating electro-pop-ghetto-funk in South Africa. She’s recently collaborated with Gorillaz, Beyonce, Diplo, Ghetts and Wizkid.

Radio 1 DJ and presenter Yasmin Evans will give a masterclass on 31 March. Evans gives an overview of her role as a DJ in UK radio and her journey into the industry. She has been presenting on Radio 1 since 2012, now hosting her own afternoon show on BBC Radio 1Xtra every weekday.

You can sign up for both events on the Virtuoso website. You’ll just need to create a free account using your email address.

Virtuoso launched in 2020 to provide accessible music education throughout the pandemic and beyond. Previous guests and tutors include Carl Cox, Goldie, Eats Everything and Tiffany Calver.
