Here’s what’s on offer:

Sessions will be available to book through local music shop and long-standing friends of the Academy, Andertons. Covering bass, guitar, drums, vocals and new for 2017, studio recording, ACM looks forward to seeing lots of local talent during these classes.

Joining the professional teaching team at ACM on the day will be Radio 1 favourite Lower Than Atlantis drummer, Eddy Thrower, who will be in the studio helping to teach attendees how to record a drum-kit. Eddy said “I’m so pleased to be taking part in National Learn To Play Day with ACM. Learning an instrument is an invaluable skill and helps kids across the board in their education – so to be able to work with ACM on this is fantastic. I’ve been very lucky in my career so far, but it has certainly come with a lot of hard work, I’m looking forward to giving back some of the knowledge I’ve learned along the way so far in this industry.”

Aside from their degree and diploma offering, ACM offers both beginner and intermediate classes in band skills, studio recording, songwriting and home recording on Saturdays from their Guildford campus. For those interested in enrolling on one of ACM’s Saturday courses, ACM will be doing a prize draw for 5 free Saturday courses to those enrolling at the Learn To Play Day event.

The Academy’s Saturday School Manager Roger Davis said, “Learn To Play Day is a real highlight in our calendar at ACM, it’s great to see so many local faces and open people’s eyes to the prospect of learning an instrument. As a leading method for training the brain, learning music is a great supplement to both children and adults. I’d encourage anyone that’s interested in playing an instrument or music production to sign up for a free taster this Learn To Play Day, and if you like what you see, definitely have a chat with us about Saturday School.”

To book onto a FREE Learn To Play Day session you must be over 12 years old.
