Access Analog seemed to have noticed the struggle some of us sound nerds live with – a desire to run our audio through warm, high-end hardware, but a wallet that simply refuses to accommodate. Their solution? A robotically controlled analogue hardware rack, working as a plug-in within a DAW.

Based in Longmont, Colorado, the Analog Matrix lets you stream your audio to the company’s devices and control parameters in real-time. There’s an option to stream at lossless 24-bit/48kHz, but you can select different amounts of data compression depending on your internet speed. Latency can be selected by the user from within the plug-in, with the largest buffer size sitting at 2500ms for those with slower connections.

Once you’ve spent time adjusting parameters to your liking, you can record the processed audio as it streams from the hardware into your DAW. The Analog Matrix is intelligent enough to let you drag and drop plug-ins in and out from your signal chain, or reorder them. The robots on the other end will route the audio “seamlessly”, Access Analog claims.

The Analog Matrix plug-in is available for free download. The service is accessible by booking in a slot, from 30 minutes up to 3 hours, with a price tag attached to each timeframe. Access Analog’s device rack offers access to processors such as the SSL Fusion, Universal Audio LA-2A, SSL XLogic G Compressor and more.

The Analog Matrix joins the likes of Aria and mix:analog in the game of robot-controlled audio processing. Access Analog, however, is unique in its selection of equipment, and claim they have more on the way (plus they are taking requests!).

Analog Matrix is available for download now, with service prices currently starting at $5.99 for 30 minutes, up to $23.99 for a 3-hour slot. Find out more at accessanalog.com/
