Abbey Road Equalise

Sunday 8 March will be the worldwide celebration of International Women’s Day and Abbey Road Institute will host the first session of Abbey Road Equalise.

The programme is part of a wider goal to help motivate more young women to consider production and engineering careers, providing the basic tools, knowledge and support required to get a head start.

Today, only 5% of all audio engineers are female, but the likes of Emily Lazar, Dani Bennett Spragg are still coming to prominence, which Abbey Road Institute hopes inspires young women to follow in their footsteps.

Equalise launches with a free, introductory Music Production Masterclass for young women aged between 16-25 at Abbey Road Institute. The first-class touches on music production fundamentals, introduction to a DAW and audio, followed by a Q&A session with Abbey Road Institute student, Marta Di Nozzi. She will share her personal experiences and journey that has led her to a position at Abbey Road Studios.

Spaces for the course appear to have now run out, however, it’s certainly worth keeping an eye on Abbey Road Equalise for those seeking a stepping stone into the industry. This introductory class is the first in a series of many.
